For Love of the Game

Hike! The game begins! My favorite thing to do (and watch) is football. The main thing that really started my liking for football is the fact that my grandpa is a real football coach. I practice with him and my dad almost every day! Just the feeling of the football in my hands makes me feel great.

I also enjoy watching football on TV. Although it’s not as exciting compared to actually playing it, I still enjoy it! Every time I watch a game I learn about new players and interesting plays. I enjoy college football much more than professional and my parents do too. Some of my favorite teams include the Patriots, the Texans, and Penn State! Football from the X-games is X-tra special!

This year I was on a flag football team and I loved it! The name of my team is the mighty Panthers. Our team jersey is black with white numbers and my number is 6. Since it is only flag football, we do not wear helmets. However, we do wear cleats and football pants. Our games are right here at M--- Elementary and there are 10 games in a season!

Some of the things that happen during a game are that one person goes back and forth to decide the plays. Another thing is that before each play the whole team gets in a huddle and yells “Break!” Finally, the kickoff. We get it at the 20 and 13 minutes are set on the clock! With each play we progress down the field and eventually we score. The ball zooms past my head like a rocket, but I catch it! Number 6 touchdown! “Whoooo!” the crowd cheers and we have won the game!

When I play football I don’t have to think about anything else and I love it. Football is something that I know I’ll always want to improve and when I catch the ball I love it! I hope that I will be able to continue in the future.
